Match Venue: Gunstone
Date: 5th October 2025
Today’s match results and updated league table.
With 15 fishing we pegged the whole pool and although weights were not as high as our last match here in the summer it felt like anywhere around the pool could produce the win, and with everybody catching it made for an entertaining match. Well done to the framers (me, Steve R and Chinky) who all fished very different parts of the lake proving this point.
The league table remains close and with just 2 matches to go the league winner is still up for grabs, even more uncertain as each angler will drop their worst 2 results.
Mike Poole moved up to 5th today after a good result and Steve R and Neil both moved up 2 places after a strong results.
Our next match is on Abbey and is silvers only, a first for the club so it will be interesting for all anglers.
Match Venue: Willows
Date: 7th September 2025
September match results from Willows today and latest league table. Willows continues to fish hard in the matches, despite people reporting good days when pleasure fishing the pool seems to stop fishing when we have high numbers around it (15 today so another great turnout).
Well done to Paul Evans who made a return to form after a couple of dodgy results and smashed the competition, fishing feeder to the island from the far bank. Also well done to Chinky (2nd) and myself (3rd). I know I moan about the weather on our matches but today topped it all – monsoon like rain and thunder and lightning.
League table starting to really shape up, joint leaders but when worst 2 matches start being dropped it will tighten up even more so it’s all to play for with 3 matches left of the season, the new points format seems to be working to give more anglers a chance to become club champion.
Once again paid out 5 anglers with Paul taking away £65 for first place
Match Venue: Barlows
Date: 3rd August 2025
Today’s match at Barlows was really tough with all anglers trying to find any fish they could. Congratulations to the winner (me) and the framers (Mick Hales and Mick Beddows) ….. Mr Hales continues to be ‘Mr Barlows’ as there are not many matches he doesn’t frame there!
Yes it rained again but at least it was warm …… once again we paid out the top 3 (with £70 first place) and 2 section winners.
League table continues to change, with myself now leading but still very close and will all change as we start to drop worst results after 7 matches so it’s still all to play for.
A big thank you to Fatty’s bait and tackle for sponsoring today’s match, very much appreciated.
Next one is back to the Willows in September.
Match Venue: Gunstone
Date: 6th July 2025
Today’s match at Gunstone was great fishing with almost 500lbs being caught around the pool, and once again a great turnout of 16 anglers enabled us to pay 3 places and 2 sections with first prize £80. Again weather wasn’t really kind, soaking us when setting up and during the match and blustery wind – one day we will have nice weather for a match
Well done to big Ian, fished a really tidy match with feeder tight to the island and later on in his margins breaking the 100lb barrier also well
Done to Mick Hales for second and me third.
Mr consistent (Paul Evan’s) wasn’t as consistent today so has stumbled a bit in the league but still tops the scores at this stage (but could all change as we start dropping matches later in the year) and with the new points system this year it looks like it’s going to be a very tight fight for club champion.
Next match is a break from the league with our charity match at Willows on 20th July – will
Still be £10 but half of all entry money will be donated to Acorns children’s charity – a really great cause so please support us on the next one.
Match Venue: Willows
Date: 1st June 2025
Today’s match results and latest league table along with photo of framers (and Steve who didn’t frame but gets upset if he can’t be in the pictures).
Once again fishing was harder than expected, fish showing all around but getting them to feed was another thing, combined with a gusty wind (again!)for some pegs. That said some really close weights and lots of tales of “the one that got away” today
League table starting to get interesting but will all shake up as people start to drop their weakest results after 7 matches, but for now Mr consistent Paul Evans leading the way (although if Paul Emery drops his missed match they would be level.
We were able to pay out £80 first prize today, along with the next 3 places and two sections, and some of this was split by just ounces at the weigh in …. Many thanks to Rick for his kind sponsorship today.
Next match Gunstone, hoping fishing improves and weights follow suit
Match Venue: Barlows (Sponsored)
Date: 11th May 2025
Today’s match results below, fishing was really hard all around with bright sunshine, little breeze and lots of tree blossom ….. all combined to make fish hard to come by.
Well done to the framers (me), Kevin and Mike …. And a notable section win for Owen with just 4ozs!
Paul Evan’s stays as early pacesetter at the top of the league after his first match win followed up by fourth today
Paid out 5 places again and thanks to Codsall engravers for their sponsorship.
The next match will be at Willows as there is a keepnet ban on Kingswood.
Match Venue: Willows
Date: 6th April 2025
First club match of the year at Willows today.
(Thanks Ians Fishing Tackle who sponsored the match).
Good turn out with 14 fishing so we pegged right around the pool but the wind was a challenge (both for presentation and being bloody cold!). Fished hard as everywhere seems to be doing at the moment but there were at least fish caught. Well done to our framers, Paul E, Roger and Mike P and also to our section winners , Steve and Paul E …….
With our new format we were able to payout to 5 anglers.
